Hand in hand

Sustainability and compliance

Sustainably shaping the future

Sustainable action is an integral part of our corporate strategy with a forward-looking perspective. This sense of responsibility drives our commitment – to society, to the environment and climate, to the well-being of our employees, and to uniting sustainability with economic success.

We’re convinced: Greater sustainability is easier to achieve together. That’s why we’re a member of the UN Global Compact and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and we contribute our environmental data to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). We also have our efforts evaluated by EcoVadis and use the 2024 ranking as motivation to further refine our sustainability practices.

An overview of our commitment

Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

From transparency to action: That’s the goal of the non-profit organization Carbon Disclosure Project. For the CDP, the key to making sustainable decisions that protect future generations lies in disclosing environmental data. We also contribute to this transparency by providing our information to what is now the world’s largest and most comprehensive environmental data pool.

EcoVadis

Strong performance: The global, independent rating platform EcoVadis has recognized our efforts in the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement, with a silver medal. This affirms that our actions are effective and serves as additional motivation for our sustainability agenda in the years ahead.

SBTi

Our commitment to reducing emissions: Harro Höfliger participates in the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). We have developed ambitious goals and measures to significantly reduce our direct and indirect emissions in line with the Net-Zero objective. In doing so, we join over 4,000 companies and institutions in contributing to limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees.

UN Global Compact

Sustainable corporate governance: We support the ten universal principles of the UN Global Compact on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, and contribute to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Programs aimed at achieving 98% employee retention, the 2030 Energy Program, and a sustainable supply chain are just some examples of how we embed these principles into our strategy.

Publications

The sustainable development of our company is a transparent process. We report publicly on our activities and progress – for example, on rating platforms like CDP and EcoVadis, as well as in our sustainability reports prepared in accordance with GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards.

Compliance

Living responsibility. Building trust.
Responsible conduct is an integral part of our corporate culture. We therefore always act in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and adhere to our compliance principles. In doing so, we strengthen the trust of our customers, employees, business partners, and the public, while safeguarding the integrity and reputation of Harro Höfliger.

Compliance Management System
Our Compliance Management System provides the binding framework for compliant behavior. It encompasses all structures, processes, and measures designed to identify risks at an early stage, prevent violations, and ensure compliance with legal requirements as well as internal standards. Guidance and accountability are provided through our Code of Conduct, our Business Partner Code of Conduct, and the rules and procedures derived from these documents for day-to-day operations.

Compliance as the foundation of sustainable business
Responsible corporate governance is a key element of sustainable business practices. Compliance provides the foundation for this approach and supports long-term business success, trust, and integrity.

Reporting concerns and available reporting channels
Despite all preventive measures, violations of rules and regulations may occur. It is therefore essential to identify and address potential misconduct at an early stage. This enables us to investigate concerns, take appropriate action, and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Reports of potential violations may be submitted at any time to the Management Board or the Supervisory Board. In addition, a whistleblowing system is available that allows concerns to be reported confidentially and, if desired, anonymously.
